Fat roads - again

If you drive a car, it's like slathering junk food into asphalt - the effects of all those carlories will make streets fat.  Even if you like a little plumpness in your roads, Smart Growth fiends want them to slim down by having you drive less (and exercise more!).  After all the major roads have been skinnied, do you think the Central Planners might go for smaller and smaller ones?  (They need jobs too.)

Vehicle lanes to shrink along Foster Road
Portland Tribune  |  June 6, 2014  |  by Steve Law

Foster Road may be the next Portland thoroughfare to go on a “road diet.”
The Portland City Council will consider a new streetscape and transportation plan for Foster between Powell Boulevard and 92nd Avenue next Wednesday, June 11.
The plan would cut the number of vehicle lanes in half, down to one in each direction, while adding a middle strip for left-turn lanes or cars taking refuge while making other turns. That is designed to slow traffic while boosting safety and reducing accidents.
The plan would introduce bicycle lanes on both sides of Foster, as well as make it safer and more inviting for pedestrians by adding curb extensions and crossing improvements.

Commissioner Novick and PBOT director Treat insist they are not waging a war on cars. Do you believe them? "Road Diet" is a snappy way to say "less vehicle lanes, more inconvenience for drivers".

NO. look at what they have done on division and around 11th and 12th from division to Powell.

PBOT is run by morons...there simply is no other way to interpret this....

And this is why they have no money for road main-
tinance folks! I'd love to show up a voice my
opposition but I have a real job and have to work 9-5
