A new interactive map from MIT Labs shows commuters the fastest ways to get around the city. (Here You Are)
- This is pretty cool (and enlightening): MIT Labs' Social Computing Group has created an interactive map showing the fastest mode of commuting – driving, transit, bicycling and walking – from any Point A to any Point B in Portland. If nothing else, the map, one of many created through the microurbanism Here You Are Project, shows just how inefficient mass transit has become for many neighborhoods. (After clicking all over the map, I could find only a handful of places where TriMet, represented by blue, wins the speed race.)Try it for yourself.

Public transportation policy should be based on fact, not fantasy.
