To help make up for the shopping revenue lost during this week's downtown power outage, 1,000 free Smart Park parking validations will be available this Saturday and Sunday at the information booth in Pioneer Place at 700 S.W. 5th Ave. and the Pendelton Store at 900 S.E. 5th Ave.
The promotion was announced Wednesday afternoon in the atrium of Pioneer Place by Sandra McDonough, President and CEO of the Portland Business Alliance, and Lisa Frisch, the organization's Retail Program Director.

Notice the PBA wasn't offering free bus or transit tickets. Maybe it's because most people DRIVE to work and shop? Hmmm. Is there a lesson here for LO businesses and promoting "economic vitality"?
