ANSWERS

1.  “Resistance “  The symbol for electrical resistance in the USA  Symbol is used by anarchist groups to symbolize “resistance” to authority. 

2.  The Thin Blue Line flag.  Shows support for police and law enforcement. 

3.  The Gonzales flag. The battle of Gonzales was the first skirmish that marked the war for Texas independence from Mexico.  The battle was over the capture of a small brass cannon held by citizens in the town of Gonzales.  

4.  The Liberty Tree. In 1765, colonists in Boston staged the first act of defiance against the British government at the tree. The tree became a rallying point for the growing resistance to the rule of Britain over the American colonies.

5.  The Betsy Ross American flag.  One of the first flags made for the new republic during the Revolutionary War. 13 Stars and Stripes - one for each of the 13 American colonies. 

6.  The Pine Tree Flag. The ‘An Appeal to Heaven’ line is a quote from John Locke’s ‘Second Treatise of Government’ which he used as justification for the overthrow of Britain’s King James II.  ‘where the body of the people, or any single man, is deprived of their right, or is under the exercise of a power without right, and have no appeal on earth, then they have a liberty to appeal to heaven, whenever they judge the cause of sufficient moment.’

7.  2A stands for the second amendment.  2A is sometimes shown with images of firearms or selections from the 2nd amendment about the right to bear arms.  

8.  The Gadson Flag.  The flag is named after politician Christopher Gadsden (1724–1805), who designed it in 1775 during the American Revolution. It was used by the Continental Marines as an early motto flag. Its design proclaims an assertive warning of vigilance and willingness to act in defense against coercion.  Currently used to symbolize individualism and liberty.

9.  A Minuteman.  Minutemen were members of the organized New England colonial militiacompanies trained in weaponry, tactics, and military strategies, comprising the American colonial partisan militia during the American Revolutionary War. They were known for being ready at a minute's notice.
